While on a routine patrol in Manukau shortly after midnight, two Matrix Security Patrol Officers identified a stolen vehicle towing a trailer and ride-on lawn mower.

They notified the police as they began to follow the vehicle. Those in the stolen car realised they had attracted the attention of the security officers and stopped to throw a hammer at them, hoping to scare them off. Matrix Security continued to safely follow the thieves who soon stopped again to throw a bottle and another hammer at the patrol car before speeding off.

The patrol officers briefly lost sight of the stolen vehicle, but a search of side streets was successful with the vehicle and its occupants spotted hiding in a cul de sac. The new location was passed to the police who were closing in and able to quickly take over and arrest those involved.

While Matrix Security Officers certainly do not enjoy situations involving aggressive offenders, it’s always good when we can help recover stolen items and keep the communities we work in a bit safer.
